The city is not well known for cheap accommodation. You have probably seen that by yourself by now. It's not an easy task to find a good hotel in Hong Kong with low price tag. Before you start reading about these Hong Kong cheap hotels, we must clear a few things. Many "travelers" are complaining about the room size and compact use of facilities in this city. Hotel rooms are small in all the hotels below. If you mind this fact you shouldn't book Hong Kong Cheap Hotel. Instead look into luxury options. You will find spacious rooms – at much higher rates. This is simply because Hong Kong is one of the most expensive real estate markets in the world today. You can't expect to get 50m2 with a cheap room here.
 
Public transportation is overall good. MTR coverage is superb, cheap and many of the properties are located near major stops. Buses are functional although often crowded. All signs and maps in Hong Kong are in Cantonese and English. Avoid using these around 8-9am, 12:30-2pm and 5-7pm. Shuttle buses are provided by most hotels and usually take you both ways. Inquiries at your hotel's front desk.
 
Taxi drivers in Hong Kong speak basic English and are very honest. In case you have problems report it to the agency, they will sort it out for you. The number can be found in the car. These are very comfortable and color coded according to the city area they serve (Urban – Red – covers most of the city, Blue takes you to Lantau and Green to New Territories). Taxi fare starts at 13 (Blue), 14.5 (Green) and 18HKD (Red) for first 2km, after that ~ 1.5HKD/km.
 
Consider getting the Octopus Card – IC card you can use all around the city for easy and convenient payments for all your fares and buying / paying for petty stuff around the city. You can get it in MTR Ticket boots or in 7/11 outlets and charge it with as much as you need during your stay (HKD50 refundable deposit for plastic).

I have used two weeks before arrival date and one night for double bed rooms. Pay attention to deals offered on each page, some are really great, discounts up to 70%! Free Broadband, Breakfast and what not.

You should not stay here if you are planning to spend your days in the room. The location is perfect for number of activities. This place is not suitable for families or small children. If you are traveling with too much luggage you should look for another hotel as well. 
 
This is my personal choice as I prefer to be close to the action. Wan Chai is a very active part of the city, especially at night. Bonaparte offers the fine thread between good service, modern design, clean and many facilities with affordable price for a couple or single traveler.

I loved the food here. If we were ranking the best value hotel restaurants this one would be the absolute winner. You don't have such a good choice and mastery in hotel kitchen for this much money. This is just a perfect place. It has certain family warmth and cosy note.

Set on the landscaped garden podium level and with panoramic views of the nearby mountains, the wonderful free-form swimming pools are the perfect place to relax and unwind. You'll relax perfectly here and your children will love it. 
 
This property is one of its kind and the best part is the price – $70 will cover charges for Superior Room in this four star hotel. The only problem now will be to get the room, it's fully booked most of the time. Definitely worth trying!

4. Hotel MK Hong Kong

It's located in the Central Kowloon – Mongkok (hence the name). Within the reach to shopping and entertainment areas and city attractions like Tung Choi Street, Garden Street, Madame Tussauds and The Peak Galleria.
 
This Hong Kong cheap hotel doesn't have a restaurant in the house. This won't be a problem as there are many in the area. You'll be exploring local dishes in a minute. Kowloon, Mong Kok especially are famous for local dishes. And the variety of it! International cuisine is not a problem as well. The same goes for bars and clubs. There are many and various. It's not the heart of the city nightlife but still sporting very entertaining nights. Pay attention that this is not an expensive part of the city. Drinking outside can be very cheap! compared to other areas. 
 
Hotel MK KowloonThe staff here are very friendly and helpful. Their English is sufficient for any inquiry or call for help. The hotel is exceptionally clean and maintained well. The size of the room and the lack of many facilities don't make it a family/children friendly hotel. More suitable for young couple or business traveler. 
 
 
If you are staying here everything is within easy reach. Either Mong Kok or Yau Ma Tei MTR stations and then pretty much anywhere in the city on the Red or Green line. Fast and simple. 
 
It's not the most beautiful building with competent management this hotel deserves it's place on this list. One thing that certainly adds to that is the location. Finally, the price.

Well, the price is low, that's for sure. The pictures available are stunning. Location is just perfect if you are not after city buzz. Sounds like a great place to have a rest or position yourself to hit the parks.

More expensive than the ones above but if you ask me it's worth every penny. This hotel was award finalist on Hotel Club for Outstanding Service and Value. In addition to this, again, the location, comfort and facilities here are better than anywhere else. The staff are very outgoing and you'll feel like at home quickly.
